Unitas has appointed Women in Wholesale Chair Clare Bocking as its Inclusion Ambassador at this week’s annual conference in Athens.

This new role acknowledges that people attending a big overseas conference for the first time, or as the sole representative of their company, may need a little help to engage with key contacts and achieve their business goals for the event.

Unitas MD John Kinney says: “We appreciate it is a cost and time commitment to attend an event like this, and we want everyone to get full value out of it. They should feel engaged, included, energised and inspired. We want to ensure they learn valuable insight they can take back to their colleagues, and make plenty of new professional and personal contacts.

“Clare will offer her support to delegates attending for the first time, and especially any female delegates attending on their own. She will be present at the hotel checking-in process, and at the welcome reception on the first night to give them any information and support during their stay in Athens.

“We want everyone to get make the most of this once-a-year opportunity to immerse themselves and their brand in the world of Unitas.”

Clare adds: “For many of us, walking into a new work environment can be challenging at the best of times, but it’s doubly stressful when it’s an overseas conference and you’re carrying the weight of your employer’s investment and expectations. Having someone there to help you find your feet and introduce you to a few key contacts makes such a difference, and I’m looking forward to meeting the first-time attendees and making them feel welcome.”

Clare is also presenting at the conference on the topic of Team Talent – Invest to Save, in which she makes the commercial case for prioritising investment in people.
