Unitas is leveraging its position as the UK’s largest independent wholesale group to offer its 150 members centrally-negotiated rates on overhead purchases including energy supply and agency staff.
The introduction of Unitas Procurement Services has already proven beneficial, with one member reporting a significant monthly saving of £20,000. This achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of the program and Unitas Wholesale’s commitment to supporting its members’ profitability and operational efficiency.
Auditel, a procurement specialist, has been appointed to manage this outsourced service. Following a successful six-month trial, during which Unitas members enjoyed average savings of 42% on stationery, 43% on packaging, and 18.4% on Merchant Cards, the decision to partner with Auditel was clear. The trial also highlighted the potential for further savings through Auditel’s tailored review of each business’s costs, leading to optimised purchasing decisions. For example, one participating wholesaler is set to reduce its use of pallet wrap plastic by 12.7 tonnes, thanks to Auditel’s recommendations.
